Starting Feb 1, we celebrate Black History Month by featuring a few of our exceptional community members, as well as the events, content and ideas shaping the unique, multi-faceted world we live in.
This year’s theme for Black History Month is “Black Resistance”. This theme can take a variety of forms–learning about pre- and post-slavery America, soaking in arts and culture from Black African American artists, driving political action, supporting Black entrepreneurs, and making space for rest.
We have some serious Soul Brain Food for you this month with a lineup of a few black-owned businesses on our radar, a new Denver community for entrepreneurs, and the latest study about happiness from Harvard researchers that we think everyone needs to know about.
Head Gear: Glazed Studio
Playing homage to Black heritage, Glazed Studio is an exploration of identity and cultural preservation. Their hats are what head dreams are made of with lush textures and distinctive shapes.
Funding BIPOC Business: New Community Transformation Fund
The New Community Transformation Fund believes in more diverse economy, driven by economic prosperity in Denver and Colorado’s communities of color. With greater access to capital and essential support services, they are creating upward mobility for entrepreneurs who haven’t been given this opportunity historically. NCTF Denver is actively partnering with investors who share this vision and are ready to lead.

TARRA member, Alexandria Reed, is on a mission to connect a diverse group of women to find the support and guidance to make progress and find success. Through her Atelier program members will learn a variety of skills to enhance their unique strengths and activate their goals.

After tracking the health of 268 Harvard sophomores (plus their offspring) for 80 years—starting in 1938 during the Great Depression—researchers revealed how the depth, breadth and happiness of our relationships has a powerful influence on our health.
